Software Engineer

Pressco Technology Inc. designs, develops and markets ultra high-speed sensing and process monitoring products for the global container manufacturing industry.

We are currently seeking a SOFTWARE ENGINEER to provide project engineering support for Pressco products, development efforts, and functional area needs.

Duties/Essential Job Functions:

1. Develop functional specifications for new products or enhancements to existing products
2. Develop and present schedules with short-term detailed milestones
3. Develop and debug code required to meet functional specifications and schedules
4. Enhance and/or debug code developed by others
5. Document test cases for new application functionality
6. Work closely with Application Engineers, Sales, Marketing, and customers in order to provide optimal solutions
7. Document system operation
8. Support object-oriented software development
9. Develop software systems for use on Windows XP or Vista
10. Design and implement graphical user interfaces (GUI’s)
11. Design and implement code for realtime applications
12. Participate on a variety of development teams
13. Perform various ad-hoc assignments as needed

1. Four-year degree in Computer Science and/or engineering discipline and two plus years related work experience
2. In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating systems, specifically XP and Vista
3. In-depth working knowledge of the .NET Framework
4. Programming expertise in C# and C++ using the Visual Studio 2005 development environment
5. The ability to work with managed and unmanaged code in C++ and an understanding of .NET interoperability
6. Ability to develop, debug, and optimize multi-threaded applications
7. A working knowledge of process and thread prioritization, and thread synchronization
8. A practical understanding of network configuration and network communication programming (TCP and UDP sockets)
9. Understanding of object-oriented design and the ability to implement object-oriented designs
10. Strong mathematical and experimental statistics background
11. A working knowledge of design patterns and their uses
12. Experience using source code control; must be able to document work using good engineering practices. Prefer experience with PVCS or MS Visual SourceSafe.
13. Ability to present new ideas and to quickly implement concepts
14. Must have the desire to learn new skills as well as expand expertise in software engineering. Must be interested in tracking current technology trends.
15. Willing to travel occasionally to customer sites both within the United States and overseas
16. Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams
17. Experience with database design and SQL Server Express a plus
18. Experience with machine vision application and algorithm development a definite plus
19. Experience with application internationalization and UNICODE a plus
20. Experience with the configuration and optimization of pcAnywhere or UltraVNC a plus
21. Experience with microcontroller application development a plus
22. Experience with real-time systems or Factory Automation technology a plus
